Welcome to the newly re-launched VW Retro Racks. In the past few months we have been designing a brand new, bespoke, retro roof rack for the Volkswagen Transporter T5. We have completed the building and testing phase of our concept model and are now producing more of these racks as we are seeing a great interest from VW T5 owners looking for something unique, authentic and of high quality for their beloved vehicle. The new retro roof rack uses some of the same design cues from the racks which were fitted to the VW Camper vans from the 60’s and 70's. The roof bars are made from 1" x 1" mild steel box and will be zinc plated and then powder coated, in a choice of finished colours. The wooden slats are seasoned oak and have been planed, sanded and varnished with Sikkens breathable varnish and filter - 2 coats of base and 2 coats of top. Finally securing rail is made from 16mm solid stainless steel round bar which and is brushed clean and left as it is which really finishes the rack off and gives it an authentic period look... a modern spin on a retro roof rack.
